Becoming a parent, as most people would say it is one of the toughest and the most challenging jobs to do. Parenting per definition is the progression of promoting and supporting the physical, psychosocial and intellectual development of a child from birth to adulthood. The definition itself already gives us a picture of how difficult and demanding this task is. As parents, you take on a big responsibility of bringing into the world a child that would become someone, a person of character and values. What is important is that you look out for your children’s welfare.
An INFJ parent is a nurturing and caring individual. These attributes influence their way of raising their children. They are defined as a loving and caring parent. This can actually create a healthy home environment wherein they listen to their children’s point of views and take into consideration their ideas and suggestions about anything in life. They encourage their children to become independent, and be able to think on their own and come up with important decisions.
Moreover INFJ parents are very warm and patient with their children. They know pretty well how to deal with crisis at home. Their conviction in raising children of good values is quite strong. They guide and help their children to become better citizens of a country, and they instill in them the meaning of choosing the right over wrong. Because INFJs are always thinking about the consequences of their actions, it follows that they have high expectations of their children. They can sometimes turn out to be demanding. Although they are known to be gentle individuals, when they get disappointed by their children they can become furious and irate over those disappointments.
INFJs put a great emphasis on keeping strong bonds among family members. They would gladly make sacrifices just to keep their family and would do anything for their children as well. Family is always at the top of their priority list. They value spending quality time with their kids, and ensure that each of them gets equal attention, treatment, love and affection. Also they are very patient with their children; they allow their children to learn things about life on their own, but they make sure that they are behind them when they make mistakes and help them get through to the right path.
Furthermore, they are also known to be very protective parents. Because of this, sometimes they are misunderstood by their children, especially teenagers. Children might see them as controlling and intrusive parents. The reason for this parenting style is that they make sure that their kids are not involved with any activities that can harm them, like getting into drugs and alcohol. They always want the best for their child, that’s why they do everything in their power to watch over them and keep them moving in the right direction.
